"What's happening with your animals?" We've heard it a lot over the last few months. We're grateful to have amazing family support back in the states while we travel internationally. Maki and Noodle will have 3 months at Summer Camp with Mimi and Epah up in New Hampshire. They got loaded up on 6/30 and headed north to begin their fun own fun adventure. Crossing our fingers that there's no Homeward Bound moment in their futures...
I'd been aware of clothing that is magically insect-repellent. But I did not know that you could buy the spray and treat your other clothes with the magic stuff. Are you familar with Permethrin? You don't know weird neighbors until you've seen them lay all their clothes out in the driveway like this. After we'd already packed (so that we knew what fit in the bags we wanted to carry), we un-packed and sprayed.
Of course, we chose the pump spray version (aerosol is bad for the ozone, right?) and let me tell you... after you pump a million times, you realize that you don't exercise your hand muscles much. So maybe the aerosol would have been worth it? Another issue we had was that the instructions say to let things lay out and dry off for several hours. However, we'd just mowed the lawn and there were little grass clippings everywhere AND it was kind of a windy day in Boston. So the clothes were definitely not going to just chill in the driveway for 2 hours. After spraying we picked 'em up and laid 'em out all over the living room. Two hours later we had the joy of repacking it all!
We really like condiments. Like, a lot. Our fridge door is usually jam packed with dressings and mustards and relishes of various kinds. And when we travel in the US, we don't necessarily go to extremes on emptying out the fridge. But we decided to unplug the fridge this summer, to reduce power usage at home. As such, the night before we left, we ate the old chicken finges from the freezer, shared our last stick of butter and half a container of ranch dressing with our neighbors, and gave the fridge a good scrub down. I'm actually kinda excited about purchasing all new condiments when we return home in the fall. What's the condiment that you can't live without?
